FAQs

Q: What kind of events can I post?
Events must have a specific date, time, and location (even if it’s virtual or online only). Our event categories are meant to be used as follows:

  • Open Auditions: Are you going to be holding open auditions? Post them here!
  • Film Contests and Calls for Submissions Publicize your upcoming shoot, including any needs you have for talent, crew, or extras.
  • Film Shoots: Publicize your upcoming shoot, including any needs you have for talent, crew, or extras.
  • Screenings & Panels: Share the unveiling or your next masterpiece—and who will be there to discuss it with the audience.
  • Media Arts Workshops: Invite the public to learn more about filmmaking and the media arts through master classes, workshops, or seminars.
  • Social Events & Meetings: Let your film community know about your upcoming film-related soirée—like your next indie-film networking happy hour.

Q: What kind of events can’t be posted?

  • Screenings or calls for adult entertainment/porn projects
  • Posts that are NOT related to a specific event with a date, time, and location (organization listings, blog posts, etc.)
  • No gear sales, rentals, or trades
  • No crowdfunding campaigns

Q: How long will it take for my event to post?
Please allow up to 3 business days for your event to post.

Q: Will you post my event info as is?
Light editing may be necessary for length, spelling and grammar, or community standards, but we will only change what is necessary.

Q: What if my event info is incomplete?
We will reach out to the submitted email address in case of incomplete information. If we do not receive a response, the event will not post.

Q: What if my event info changes?
You can write to us at info@sparkfilmmakers.org with changes to your event. Again, please allow up to 3 business days for changes to post.

Q: How do you want me to prepare my event’s featured image?

  • First, save your image at 72dpi as an image-only .jpg file. (Images should be 1200px by 630px.) If you don’t have Adobe Photoshop, you can use freephototool.com.
  • Next, compress your image at https://imagecompressor.com.
  • Finally, upload the compressed image file in the form below.

Q: How do I ensure the personal safety of myself or my team?
The overwhelming majority of users are trustworthy and well meaning. Nevertheless, please take the same common sense precautions online as you would offline. Suspicious posts will be flagged.

  • Insist on a public meeting place like a café, bank, or shopping center.
  • Do not meet in a secluded place, or invite strangers into your home.
  • Trust your instincts.
